About Argyle Winery
Argyle has made sparkling wine by the traditional Champagne method in Dundee since 1987, and it also bottles estate-grown Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Riesling. Its Tasting House on Highway 99W was built on the site of the winery's original production facility: guests walk past the old crush pad where the first vintages were made, and four of the original fermentation tanks, nicknamed after the Beatles, are still in use. A garden and patio surround the building.
The standard Tasting House reservation is a guided flight of about an hour for $45, either all sparkling or a mix of sparkling and still wines. Best of Brut ($65 plus service, 21 and over) is a hands-on look at how sparkling wine is made, with riddling racks and a mock disgorging contest. The Library Experience ($90 plus service) pours rare, cellar-aged wines beside current releases with a charcuterie plate. The tasting room is open Monday through Thursday 11 am to 5 pm and Friday through Sunday 10 am to 5 pm.
A wood-fired mobile kitchen serves a rotating menu daily, from charred seasonal vegetables to prosciutto-wrapped dates and steak, and outside food is not allowed. Children are welcome when they stay at the table with an adult, and leashed dogs may sit with you on the patio. Groups are capped at eight, with larger parties booked separately ahead of time.
Thistle & Bloom, the organic lavender farm on Ladd Hill near Wilsonville, is about 25 minutes east via Newberg, so a summer day can start with U-cut lavender and end with sparkling wine in Dundee.
