About Baraboo Bluff Winery
Baraboo Bluff Winery sits high on the northwest range of the Baraboo bluffs, west of town, with long views over the vines and the hills around them. The family calls it the largest vineyard in Sauk County. Fred and Jill Quandt started the winery in 2015, and on January 1, 2026, their son Casey Holloway and daughter-in-law Chelsee Holloway took over, with Fred and Jill still helping out. The wines are made from local fruit suited to Wisconsin's cold winters, solar panels power the tasting room year-round, and the bottles are sealed with corks made from sugar cane.
The tasting room is open every day from 11 to 5. A flight of four 2-ounce pours is $18, and you can carry it to a table inside or out on the grounds. Glasses and bottles are also sold to enjoy outside. Picnics are encouraged, and visitors are free to walk out among the vines.
In fall the winery runs self-guided Vineyard Wine Walks, with five stops through the vineyard and two wines and a snack pairing at each; in 2026 they ran on September 26, October 10 and October 17 for $20. The property is pet friendly, and dogs are welcome both inside and outside. Groups of more than 10 should email ahead to arrange a bar tasting of eight wines. The family also owns Broken Bottle Winery, a sister winery with live music on Saturdays.
New Life Lavender & Cherry Farm is on the north side of Baraboo off the Highway 12 bypass, about 15 to 20 minutes from the bluff. In its summer season, pair the lavender wagon tour with a picnic and a flight here.
