About Brickhouse Inn Bed & Breakfast

Brickhouse Inn Bed & Breakfast spreads across old houses on Baltimore Street in Gettysburg: an 1898 Victorian that holds the dining rooms, office and gift shop, and the Welty House, built in 1838 and standing during the battle. Cemetery Hill and Gettysburg National Cemetery are about a two-minute walk, and downtown museums, pubs and restaurants are close enough to reach on foot.

The inn has 15 rooms with private baths, most with queen beds, plus suites such as the Kentucky Suite in the Welty House, with a balcony and two electric fireplaces, and the Carriage House Suite, a separate building with its own entrance off the parking lot. Breakfast is served at 8:15 a.m. in the Victorian House and 9:15 a.m. for the Welty and California houses: usually fruit or yogurt, a main dish such as chicken sausage and egg quiche, and shoofly pie. From April through October a 5 p.m. social hour gathers guests in the Victorian House.

Out back is a large private yard with a patio, fire pit, Adirondack chairs and a hot tub open all year. The inn also runs ghost, pub, battlefield, food and Wonder Women walking tours that non-guests can join, along with ghost hunts in the Welty House and the Jennie Wade birthplace. Guests must be 11 or older, pets are not allowed and weekends carry a two-night minimum. Only the Delaware and Alabama rooms in the Welty House can be reached without stairs.

Abraham's Battlefield Lavender is about 4 miles south of downtown, roughly 10 minutes by car; check its social pages for open days before you go.
