About Cabot's Ice Cream & Restaurant

Cabot's has been a family-owned ice cream parlor and restaurant on Washington Street in Newton since 1969. The ice cream is the main event: more than 70 super-premium flavors and frozen yogurts, served in generous portions as cones, sundaes, frappes (the New England name for a milkshake), floats, freezes, malteds and old-fashioned ice cream sodas.

It is a full restaurant, too. Breakfast is served all day, and the menu carries on through lunch and dinner with comfort food such as burgers, sandwiches, pasta and seafood, along with gluten-free and paleo choices. Locally roasted coffee drinks round things out. Seasonal specials change through the year; in fall 2026 the menu featured a Halloween sundae and a Nutella cake.

Families come for birthdays and celebrations. Cabot's makes custom ice cream cakes, cupcakes and frozen yogurt pies, and it can put together party sundaes big enough to serve more than 200 people. Takeout and online ordering are available, and gift certificates make an easy present.

The Upton Flower Kitchen in Upton is about 45 minutes southwest by the Mass Pike and I-495. Cabot's makes a good last stop on the way back toward Boston after a day in the countryside west of the city.
