About Charlottetown Farmers Market

The Charlottetown Farmers Market calls itself the biggest farmers market on Prince Edward Island, with more than 60 local vendors. It is a non-profit, member-owned co-operative set up to support Island farmers, makers and artisans, and it has long been a Saturday-morning habit for people in and around the capital.

Expect Island produce from local farms, meats, baked goods and artisan wares, along with hot prepared food. Vendors cook dishes from a range of traditions, including African, Dutch and Indian, and a coffee vendor brews organic, fair-trade coffee on site, so it works as a breakfast or lunch stop as well as a place to shop. There are treats for kids too.

The market is open every Saturday from 9am to 2pm all year, and adds Wednesday markets from 9am to 2pm in July and August. After an unexpected disruption at its usual building, the market is operating from a temporary site at 614 North River Road, so check their website for the current location before you go; a parking map is posted there as well.

Island Lavender Distillery, near Bonshaw, is about 20 to 25 minutes west of Charlottetown. In July, when the farm offers pick-your-own lavender bundles, a Wednesday or Saturday morning at the market followed by an afternoon in the lavender makes a full day.
