About Train Station Inn
At the Train Station Inn you sleep in a railway car. Vintage Canadian-built cabooses and boxcars have been turned into private suites beside Tatamagouche's original station, built around 1887, which now holds a coffee bar, the front desk and a large, eclectic gift shop. The 2026 season ran from May 1 to October 11.
Dinner is served in the railway dining car from 5 to 8 p.m., Friday through Tuesday, and reservations are preferred. On summer evenings an outdoor kitchen cooks on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 5 to 7 with live music on the platform, which in 2026 ran from June 19 to September 18. The Baggage Room Bar pours local craft beer and cider from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., and the inn grows its own produce without pesticides.
The Great Trail, part of the Trans Canada Trail, starts at the station and follows Tatamagouche Bay past Creamery Square and Campbell's train bridge to Nelson Park, an easy walk or bike ride after breakfast. Pets and smoking aren't allowed, check-in is after 3 p.m., and the inn doesn't take group bookings of four or more rooms.
Seafoam Lavender Company is about 20 minutes east on Route 6, close enough for a morning in the lavender gardens and dinner back in the dining car.
