About Clover Hill Vineyards & Winery (The Vineyard, Robesonia)
Clover Hill grew out of a 1970s grape-growing hobby. John and Pat Skrip founded the winery in Breinigsville in September 1985, and today it farms six vineyards on 80 acres across Berks and Lehigh counties and makes about 80,000 gallons of wine a year. The second generation runs it now: John Skrip III, who studied enology at Fresno State, makes the wine, and Kari Skrip, who studied wine marketing in Australia, handles marketing. The Robesonia location, called The Vineyard, is the Berks County tasting room.
The Vineyard is open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5, with last service 30 minutes before closing. A Vineyard and Market flight lets you sample four wines, and on Feel Good Fridays a glass of wine is $6.50 at every Clover Hill location. All locations close on Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day.
Well-behaved, leashed dogs can sit with you on the patio; only service animals go inside. The winery also makes spirits under the Clover Hill Spirits name and runs seasonal events, such as food-and-wine nights and winery tours, mostly at the Breinigsville winery, so check the events page if you want to combine both stops.
Baron Hills Lavender Farm, a young farm near Honey Brook growing about a thousand plants, is about 40 minutes south through Amish country, which makes an easy summer loop.
