About Mt Airy Lavender

Mt Airy Lavender grows on a family farm in western Chester County, about 50 minutes west of Philadelphia and 50 minutes east of Lancaster. Dick and Nancy Saha bought Mt Airy Farm in 1971 as a small horse farm, and the family later fought off an eminent domain taking that would have cost them the land. Their daughter Joanne, back home after five years in Belgium and inspired by the fields of Provence, began turning the horse pastures into lavender. Her sister Amy, a certified floral designer, tends the horses and runs the flower side. Today the farm is owned and run by sisters Amy Saha and Joanne Voelcker.

Visits center on weekends. The farm is open most Saturdays and Sundays from 11 AM to 3 PM, plus workshop and event days; it is a working farm, so check the month's events before you go. You can stroll the lavender fields, say hello to the horses and browse the barn shop.

The shop carries lavender goods made on the farm, from essential oils and beauty products to culinary lavender, along with gift sets. Workshops cover floral design and lavender crafts; they need advance registration, and tickets cannot be refunded but can be passed to a friend. The farm hosts garden clubs, private parties and corporate groups, though not weddings. The Holiday Open House on November 14 and 15, 2026, from 11 AM to 3 PM, adds gifts from local artisans.

For a longer day, Linvilla Orchards in Media is about 45 minutes east, toward Philadelphia, for a second farm stop.
