About Stoltzfus Meats
Stoltzfus Meats is a Pennsylvania Dutch butcher shop and deli on Center Street in Intercourse, in the middle of Lancaster County's Amish farm country. The family business traces its start to 1954, when Amos and Mary Stoltzfus began selling handmade meats at the New Castle Farmers Market in Delaware, and the third generation runs it today. The smokehouse turns out bacon, ham, ring bologna, dried beef and smoked kielbasa, along with Dutch staples such as scrapple, hamloaf, meat pies and cornmeal mush.
Inside the store, Amos' Place serves classic PA Dutch comfort food Monday through Saturday. Breakfast runs from 6 to 10:30 AM, with platters, breakfast sandwiches and Dutch classics; after that the kitchen switches to lunch and dinner, including the Stoltzfus Sausage Sandwich, broasted chicken, burgers, salads, homemade soups and daily specials. A grab-and-go case holds hot sandwiches, cold subs, wraps and ready-to-eat meals, and there is seating indoors and outside. You can also order ahead online.
The retail counter is the place to stock a cooler with snack sticks, landjaeger, jerky, cheese and baked goods. Before the holidays the shop takes preorders for hams and turkeys (2026 Thanksgiving orders ship November 18), and it offers catering and gift boxes that ship, which helps if you can't carry fresh meat home.
Baron Hills Lavender Farm, a young Honey Brook farm growing about a thousand plants of four varieties, is roughly 10 miles to the east. An early breakfast at Amos' Place followed by a drive through Amish country to the farm makes an easy half day; check the farm's own page for open days first.
