About David Coffaro Vineyard & Winery

David Coffaro Vineyard & Winery is a small estate on Dry Creek Road in Geyserville. Dave and Pat Coffaro bought a 20-acre vineyard with a little house here in 1979 and sold their grapes to other wineries for about 15 years before getting a winemaking permit in 1994. Some of the vines are more than a century old, and the estate now grows over 30 varieties, from Zinfandel, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon to Aglianico, Nebbiolo, Barbera and Riesling. Jose Flores has made the wine hands-on since the 2018 harvest.

The winery is known for blends, including ZP2C, a barrel blend with a little of every variety used that year. The wines are unfiltered and sealed with screwcaps, and most of the 4,000 to 7,000 cases a year come from estate fruit. Many regulars buy futures, wine ordered from the barrel in spring at about 40% below the release price. The 2026 harvest started August 4, the earliest on record for the winery.

Tastings are seated at your own table by appointment, Thursday through Monday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and the website lists a $10 fee, with club members and up to four guests tasting free. A vineyard walking tour is also offered. Pets and small children are not allowed inside the winery building but are welcome on the outdoor patio, deck and lawn, and food is not allowed inside.

Purple Hills Lavender Farm is in neighboring Alexander Valley, about 20 minutes across the hills from Dry Creek Road. Plan the lavender for the morning and a seated tasting before the 3 p.m. last booking.
