About Peterson Winery
Peterson Winery is a father-and-son operation in Sonoma County's Dry Creek Valley. Fred Peterson came to the valley in 1983 to develop vineyards, founded the winery in 1987 and planted his own vineyard on Bradford Mountain. His son Jamie joined in 2002 and has been the winemaker since 2006. The winery calls its hands-off style in the cellar "Zero Manipulation."
For almost twenty years the winery worked out of an old red barn off Lytton Springs Road, then moved in late 2005 to Timber Crest Farms on Dry Creek Road, a property shared by several small wineries. The tasting room is Building #7 there. Wines come in several lines, including Bradford Mountain estate bottlings such as Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon and a white blend, plus Dry Creek Valley and Tollini Vineyard wines, and even bag-in-box and large formats.
The tasting room is open daily from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome on Fridays and Saturdays, and Sunday through Thursday is by appointment. A standard tasting covers six wines and costs $20 per person for groups of up to nine, refunded when each taster buys two or more bottles; groups of ten or more pay $35 each. Seated tastings happen indoors and outdoors as space allows. Timber Crest Farms has picnic grounds with valley views and a bocce court for after your tasting.
Purple Hills Lavender Farm near Geyserville is about 20 minutes north. Picnic among its lavender rows in the morning, then come back down Dry Creek Road for an early-afternoon tasting, since Peterson closes at 3.
