About Cottage Grove Inn

Cottage Grove Inn is a group of 16 private cottages shaded by elm trees on Lincoln Avenue, the main street of downtown Calistoga at the top of Napa Valley. Each cottage is set up for two adults, with a king bed, a fireplace in the living area, vaulted ceilings with skylights, reclaimed hardwood floors and a spa-style bath with either a soaking tub for two or a walk-in shower. A shaded porch opens onto the gardens.

The inn's own advice is to come in spring or fall for wine tasting and time outdoors; summer brings more events and winter is quiet. Castello di Amorosa, Chateau Montelena and Tank Garage Winery are within walking distance or a short drive, and the town's hot-spring spas, including Indian Springs, Golden Haven and Calistoga Spa Hot Springs, are close by. There is no spa on site, but staff will help book a soak or massage. Guests can borrow cruiser bikes and picnic backpacks, and cycling tours, picnics and hikes can be arranged.

There is no restaurant at the inn. A light breakfast of pastries, seasonal fruit, oats, locally roasted coffee and tea is set out each morning, and cafés, restaurants and wine bars are a few steps away. Three cottages take pets, and one cottage is ADA accessible. The inn also hosts small retreats, workshops and whole-property group bookings.

For lavender, Starr Creek Lavender in Windsor and Bees N Blooms in Santa Rosa are each roughly 30 to 35 minutes west by car, so a summer morning in the fields fits easily before an afternoon soak back in Calistoga.

What to do

  • Walk to Calistoga's cafés, galleries and wine bars from your porch

  • Book a mud bath or mineral soak at a nearby hot-spring spa
