About Whitehall Lane Winery
Whitehall Lane has been making wine on Highway 29 in Napa Valley's Rutherford appellation since 1979, and three generations of the Leonardini family now run it. Everything is made from the family's own grapes: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from six Napa Green certified vineyards in St. Helena, Oak Knoll and Rutherford, plus two sites in Sonoma Valley and the Petaluma Gap.
Walk-ins are welcome daily from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. when space allows, though reservations are recommended. In 2026 the Leo Trio ($40) is a 30- to 40-minute pour of three wines at the bar. The seated Winery Exclusive Flight ($65) and Elevated Cabernet Sauvignon Flight ($90) each pour five wines with a small cheese pairing, indoors or on the patio, and take 60 to 90 minutes. For something different, Sip, Serve, Smash ($75) pairs an hour of pickleball on a private court in the vines with an hour of tasting.
Well-behaved children are welcome at tastings, and so are leashed dogs; note both in your booking so the staff can seat you. There is no kitchen, but a picnic lunch or a cheese and charcuterie box from a local grocery can be arranged with 72 hours' notice. Because of the farm permit, the winery offers tastings only and does not sell wine by the glass or bottle to drink on site.
Bees N Blooms in Santa Rosa, an organic lavender farm with a lavender labyrinth, is about 45 minutes west over the Mayacamas Mountains, an easy morning stop before an afternoon tasting here.
