About Titus Vineyards

Titus Vineyards is a family-owned, 50-acre vineyard and winery on the Silverado Trail just north of St. Helena, at the base of Howell Mountain. The ground has a long paper trail: its history reaches back to 1841 and runs through names like General Mariano Vallejo, Dr. Edward Bale and Charles Krug, and it has been farmed for more than 150 years. Dr. Lee Titus, a radiologist who came west from Minnesota, bought the land in 1968 with his wife Ruth, and the family brought in its first harvest the following year.

Lee replanted the old mix of Mondeuse, Burger and Golden Chasselas with all five classic Bordeaux grapes, and in 1972 the family added a 10-acre vineyard on Ehlers Lane planted to Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. For years the fruit went to other Napa wineries; the first Titus Vineyards wines came in 1990. Today two of the sons run it: Phillip Titus directs the winemaking and Eric Titus manages the winery and vineyards. Their red wines are blends.

Visits are by appointment only. The Vista Room tasting is a seated, semi-private hour with a selection of their Napa Valley wines, looking out over the vineyard. Start times run from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. When we checked in October 2026 the fee was $60 per person for parties of one to six, with one fee waived for each three-bottle purchase; larger groups can ask about pricing.

Bees N Blooms, the organic lavender farm west of Santa Rosa, is about 50 minutes away over the hills through Calistoga, so plan a morning in the lavender and an afternoon slot in the Vista Room.

What to do

  • Book the seated Vista Room tasting, about one hour
  • Taste Cabernet-based blends from the home ranch and the Ehlers Lane vineyard
  • Look out over the 50-acre vineyard at the foot of Howell Mountain
  • Ask about pricing for groups larger than six
