About Home Hill Winery

Home Hill began in 1992 as a hobby farm with six rows of vines on old apple-growing land at Ranelagh, near Huonville. It's now a six-hectare vineyard best known for Pinot Noir. Rosemary and Terry Bennett own it and run it as a family business: their son Sean manages the vineyard, their daughter Kelly runs the wine club, and other relatives look after functions and marketing.

The cellar door is open every day, and $10 buys five tastings of your choice. Wines include the Landslide Pinot Noir, Kelly's Reserve Chardonnay and Kelly's Cuvée. You don't need to book unless your group has more than six people. The setting looks out over vines, pasture, livestock and the surrounding mountains, about 30 minutes south of Hobart.

The restaurant, awarded a chef's hat in 2023, serves lunch Thursday to Monday and is booked through their website. It closed for a winter break in July 2026, so check for a similar closure if you're visiting midwinter. Home Hill also holds seasonal events such as yoga and brunch among the vines in spring, plus weddings and corporate functions, and offers accommodation.

Campo de Flori, a small lavender farm at Glen Huon, is about 10 minutes away. Check their website for appointment times before combining the two.
