About Lakeview Campground
Lakeview Campground is a family-owned park on East 300 North outside Rochester, set around Barr Lake, a private natural lake. It is under two hours from Indianapolis and works for a weekend of fishing, paddling and campfires, or a day trip with the kids.
Sites come in several types. Back-in RV sites with full hookups and 30 or 50 amp service were listed at $45 a night, waterfront water-and-electric sites at $39, and primitive waterfront tent sites at $33, all before Indiana's 7% tax. A 28-foot bunkhouse camper with a covered deck, kitchen basics and beds for a family rents for $90 a night; bring your own linens and towels. A day pass for two adults and their children under 18 is $15 per family from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Seasonal sites are also offered.
The swim area is open Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend, with no lifeguard on duty. Guests fish and boat on Barr Lake, paddle kayaks, walk the nature trail, and keep kids busy at the playgrounds, mini-golf course, basketball court and ninja course. The camp store sells firewood for $5 a bundle, and outside firewood is not allowed. On some weekends the park holds craft, bake and garage sales.
