About The Lakehouse Grille

The Lakehouse Grille sits on East Lakeshore Drive in Culver, beside Lake Maxinkuckee, and both of its dining areas look out on the water. There is also outdoor waterfront seating. Inside, the decor leans into lake life: a 1950s speedboat, an antique wood-and-canvas canoe and a 20-foot C-Scow sailboat hang from the dining room ceiling, and a 30-foot mural shows the lake in its early days.

The menu centers on seafood, burgers and steaks. Local coverage has pointed to its ribs, crab cakes, Reubens, sushi and a breaded tenderloin sandwich, Indiana's signature, which earned it a place on the state's tenderloin food trail. The bar pours 16 draft beers along with small-batch bourbons and a wine list. Mark Damore opened the restaurant in May 2012.

Hours are Tuesday through Thursday 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday 11 to 10, and Sunday 11 to 8; Monday is not listed. For groups, the restaurant has two banquet rooms that can combine for about 70 guests, and it caters private events with a custom menu. It works well as a lunch or dinner stop on a summer lake day, or as a warm-up after a fall walk along the shore.

Pretty Lake Farms, the nearest lavender farm listing, is near Plymouth, about 15 minutes north.
