About Three Bird Layne
Three Bird Layne is a shop and working studio on Main Street in Culver, opened in fall 2024 by writer and artist Liz Lamoreux, who has taught mindfulness and creativity for more than 15 years. It fills a roughly 130-year-old former hardware store, and small signs around the room tell pieces of the building's history. Poetry runs through the whole place, from the book shelves to the cards.
The stock is grouped by what you might do with it: apparel, jewelry, bags and scarves to wear; art supplies, kits, journals, pens and washi tape to make things with; candles, prints, puzzles, kitchen goods and tea for home; books, poetry and kids' books to read; and greeting cards and small gifts to give. A bench outside the studio is set up for sitting and talking.
Liz also runs workshops in the studio. In summer 2026 the calendar included drop-in craft afternoons with $5 to $25 projects and no sign-up, an adults-only watercolor evening for $45, a two-day art journal workshop for ages 16 and up, and a book lovers club. Retreats for groups can be arranged on request. The shop is open Thursday through Saturday from 10 to 5 and Sunday from 10 to 3; Monday through Wednesday it opens when Liz is in the studio, so look for the open sign.
