About Trattoria Enzo

Trattoria Enzo has been a downtown La Porte dinner standby since 1999. Chip and Kelley Steffey own and run it, and the kitchen crew has stayed the same for more than fifteen years, which the family credits for how consistent the food is. The style is upscale Italian in a relaxed room, the kind of place people book for anniversaries or a night out.

The menu covers the classics. Starters include fried calamari, bruschetta, stuffed eggplant and grilled sausage with peppers. Pastas run from shrimp capellini, the house favorite, to penne al forno, orecchiette and spaghetti and meatballs, plus spinach and roasted garlic ravioli and a baked wild mushroom ravioli. Entrees include chicken piccata and Parmesan, filet mignon, salmon, shrimp scampi and fresh Lake perch. Specialty pizzas include the Margherita, Pompeii and Rimini, and homemade cannoli, chocolate mousse and tiramisu finish the meal.

Weeknight specials make it easy on the budget: specialty pizzas are discounted on Tuesdays and spaghetti and meatballs is the Thursday special. There is a wine list, cocktails and beer, and a kids menu. Enzo's Attic, a private dining room, seats groups of 12 to 24 with a menu planned ahead with the staff, and the restaurant also caters.

Lakeside Lavender and Herbs is in the La Porte area, so an afternoon among the lavender in summer can end with dinner downtown here.
