About Little Rivers Brewing Co.
Little Rivers Brewing Co. is a small-batch brewery and distillery in Scottsdale, in Tasmania's north-east. Husband and wife Chris and Jess Carins opened it in January 2013, after Chris spent seven years making wine in northern Tasmania and two years brewing in Queensland. The brewing water comes from the Forester River after filtering through the rock of Mount Scott, and the beers are made without added preservatives.
Regulars include Summer Haze, which took gold at the Independent Beer Awards in 2022 and 2023, a Pale Ale that won silver and a Devils Black IPA that won bronze. A Solstice Stout appears as a limited release while stock lasts. The range also covers spirits and ready-mixed spirit cans, and the taphouse offers beer tasting paddles and spirit flights so you can compare several at once.
The taphouse on Victoria Street opens Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m., and Friday from noon to 8 p.m.; it is closed Monday and Tuesday. Pizzas come from a local patisserie and providore, and a wood heater keeps the room warm on cold winter days (June to August). The space hosts private functions and corporate events, and the team can help arrange catering and entertainment.
Bridestowe Estate at Nabowla is about 20 minutes west along the Tasman Highway, so a summer lavender visit can finish with a late lunch here on the way through.
