About Jansz Tasmania Wine Room
Jansz Tasmania makes only sparkling wine, and its Wine Room sits beside the vineyard in the Pipers River district, about an hour's drive from Launceston, overlooking a lake. The house is marking 40 years of Tasmanian sparkling. It uses the traditional method, with a second fermentation in the bottle and time aging on lees, an approach it calls 'Méthode Tasmanoise'. Fruit comes from the Pipers River area and other Tasmanian vineyards.
Wine ambassadors lead guided tastings through the range, and longer booked experiences are available for a deeper look. The room is small and often fills up, especially on weekends and in peak travel periods, so booking is strongly encouraged, though walk-ins are welcome when there's space.
Locally sourced cheese platters and light bites are served with the wines, with views over the vines and the water. Jansz calls itself family friendly but first a sparkling wine house, so children must be supervised at all times.
Bridestowe Estate's lavender fields at Nabowla are about 20 minutes away, which makes Jansz an easy addition to a lavender day in the northeast.
