About Los Poblanos Historic Inn & Organic Farm

Los Poblanos is a 25-acre historic inn and farm in the village of Los Ranchos de Albuquerque, along the Rio Grande north of downtown Albuquerque. Its buildings were designed in 1932 by John Gaw Meem, often called the father of Santa Fe style, on land that was the headquarters of the old Los Poblanos Ranch. Three generations of the Rembe family have cared for it, and lavender has grown here since 1999, alongside herbs, fruit, vegetables, flowers and beehives kept in the fields and a Slovenian beehouse.

The lavender is harvested each summer and distilled on the estate into essential oil and hydrosol for the inn's own goods, and during lavender season the farm stages live distillation demonstrations. Day visitors can explore the public areas marked on the property's open-space map, eat at Campo and shop. Farm and garden tours and walking tours of the historic grounds run on the events calendar, though some are for lodging guests only.

The Farm Shop is open to the public daily and sells lavender salve, lotion, mist and honey, along with baked goods from its bakery. Reservations are strongly recommended at Campo, though some bar seats are held for walk-ins at brunch and dinner, and afternoon tea at La Quinta often sells out. Pets are not allowed, except trained service dogs, and children must stay with an adult because this is a working farm with machinery and animals.

For an overnight on the other side of the river, the Sandhill Crane Bed and Breakfast in Corrales is about 15 minutes away.
