About The Chile Addict
The Chile Addict is a small, family-owned shop on Eubank Boulevard in Albuquerque's Northeast Heights that has been selling New Mexico foods and gifts since 1983. The shelves lean hard on chile: dried red chile powders and pods, local hot sauces, salsas, seasonings and chile-laced jams and jellies, along with pistachios, snacks and specialty sauces from regional makers.
The shop also sells its own Coffee Addict piñon coffee, a locally roasted coffee with the nutty flavor of the piñon pine nut, plus bags from other New Mexico piñon coffee roasters. Beyond food, you will find chile ristras and chile lights, Southwestern pottery, tiles, metal art, wind chimes, cookbooks, jewelry, seeds and gift baskets.
The doors are open seven days a week, 10 am to 6 pm. It is a practical stop for stocking up on edible souvenirs before a flight home, or for putting together a gift box of New Mexico flavors. If you cannot fit in a visit, the shop ships orders within the continental US, and staff say they prefer phone calls for questions during business hours.
Los Poblanos Historic Inn & Organic Farm, where lavender has grown in the Rio Grande Valley since 1999, is roughly 25 minutes west across town. Pair a morning walk through the Los Poblanos fields and farm shop with an afternoon stop here for chile and coffee to carry home.
