About Martinborough Brewery & Tasting Room
Martinborough Brewery describes itself as South Wairarapa's original and only craft brewery, a beer stop in the middle of a town better known for wine. Its taproom on Ohio Street pours the brewery's own beer on tap, and it also offers local wines for anyone in the group who would rather have a glass of Pinot.
The range runs from English-style bitters and crisp lagers to hop-forward IPAs and seasonal releases. Regulars include Vintage Gold, Hop Elixir, Ohio APA, Hinakura Hazy Pale Ale, Hoppy Haze and Black Nectar, plus Pocket IPA, a low-alcohol West Coast IPA. You can order a pint or a flight to try several, and beer is sold in cans to take home.
The taproom has covered seating, so you can sit indoors or out in most weather. As published in October 2026, it opens Monday and Thursday from 2pm to 7pm, Friday and Saturday from noon to 8pm and Sunday from noon to 7pm, and is closed Tuesday and Wednesday. Under New Zealand law, alcohol can't be supplied to anyone under 18.
Ranui Essentials Lavender Farm is about 7 miles away, so a weekend afternoon can take in the lavender farm, a Martinborough cellar door and a flight here before dinner in town.
