About Schoc Chocolates

Schoc Chocolates has made chocolate by hand in Greytown since December 2002, when chef and counselor Murray Langham, author of the Chocolate Therapy books, opened the studio. The shop is a tiny turn-of-the-century colonial cottage on Main Street, just south of the town center and right next to Cobblestones Museum.

The draw is the range. More than 50 chocolate bar flavors fill the shelves, from plain sea salt and lemon with white chocolate to lime and chili and a strong coffee bar, alongside boxed chocolates and truffles, bagged chocolates, vegan chocolates and a do-it-yourself make-me box. Hampers and gift boxes are put together here too, which makes it a handy stop for a present on the way home.

The shop is open seven days a week from 10am to 4pm. It closes on Good Friday, Easter Sunday, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and the first two days of January. There is no set tour or tasting program listed, so treat it as a browse-and-buy stop, and pair it with a wander along Main Street or a look around the museum next door.

Lavender Abbey near Carterton is about 10 minutes north on State Highway 2 and opens its shop on weekends, so a Saturday spent between the lavender, Greytown's main street and this chocolate cottage makes an easy half day.
