About Pepper Bridge Winery
Pepper Bridge Winery has made a Cabernet Sauvignon every vintage since it started in 1998, and its winery and tasting room sit on J B George Road in the vineyard country south of Walla Walla. The wines come from two vineyards the winery is tied to: Pepper Bridge Vineyard, which began as 10 acres planted in 1991 and has grown to nearly 200, and Seven Hills Vineyard, whose first vines went in in 1981. Jean-Francois Pellet is the winemaker.
The lineup centers on Bordeaux grapes. Alongside the Cabernet there is a Merlot first made in 1999, a blend called Trine that uses all five traditional red Bordeaux varieties and honors the McKibben, Murphy and Pellet families, and a Sauvignon Blanc fermented in both oak and a concrete egg. Two single-vineyard blends are kept for wine club members.
Reservations are recommended for the Walla Walla tasting room. In October the winery runs Snack Sundays: on each Sunday of the month in 2026, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., it sets out a free snack from a local maker, such as fresh baguette with olive oil or dark chocolate with salted almond. Pepper Bridge also hosts private events, and it has tasting rooms in Woodinville and Vancouver, Washington, if you are closer to Seattle or Portland.
Blue Mountain Lavender Farm in Lowden is about 25 minutes west of the winery by way of US Highway 12. It grows more than 25 lavender varieties and opens a boutique in summer; in early fall, the Snack Sundays here make a good reason to plan a second trip to the valley.
