About River Edge Bed and Breakfast & Gathering Place
River Edge Bed and Breakfast is a family-owned inn in an 1880s farmhouse built for the dam keeper who tended Lowell's first source of hydroelectric power. The property covers more than 100 acres of spruce and pine forest and tall prairie grass, with trails and nearly a mile of private frontage on the Flat River.
There are four guest rooms: a main-floor master with a queen bed, two upstairs bedrooms and a cedar-lined room with a river view, and the whole house can be booked. Two rooms have attached full baths. Rooms come with an electric fireplace, a coffee maker with tea and cocoa, and a refrigerator, and guests share a three-season porch. Stays are for adults only, with no children or infants, and pets are not allowed. Rates for one or two guests are posted at roughly $125 to $165, depending on the season, the day and the breakfast option.
The land is the attraction: guests hike the trails, kayak and fish the river, watch birds, and in winter cross-country ski and snowshoe. The farm also hosts weddings, family gatherings, corporate events and church retreats, with an event season from late April to early November, closed Sundays.
