About The Orchards at Red Barn

The Orchards at Red Barn is a fifth-generation centennial farm run by the Roth family on Alden Nash Avenue north of Lowell. Its market has a kitchen, bakery, donuts and ice cream, and it is home to Painted Turtle Hard Cider, made from the farm's apples.

Apple picking starts in late August and moves through the varieties into late October. In 2026, early apples such as Paula Red, Zestar!, Gala and Premiere Honeycrisp came first; Pixie Crunch and Ida Red were picking in early October, with Fuji, Braeburn, Spy, Ludacrisp and EverCrisp due later in the month. Picking costs $20 a bag, and a long list of other varieties, from SnapDragon to Ambrosia, is sold pre-picked. Fall also brings a pumpkin field and a corn maze.

Beyond the Barn, the farm's family area, includes the BarnYard petting farm, Tractor Tire Mountain, an apple bouncer jump pad, yard games and a sandbox. Admission is required from age 2 up and covers the activities: $12.95 for a day pass at the gate, or $17.51 for a 2026 season pass bought online and good May through October. The market serves pizza and sandwiches, and the orchard stays open until dark.

Stormy Lavender in Saranac is about 15 minutes east. It doesn't publish visiting hours online, so confirm before planning a stop.
