About Heidi's Farmstand and Bakery

Heidi's Farmstand and Bakery sits on Cascade Road just east of Grand Rapids, on the way to Lowell. It is a farm market and bakery first: tomatoes, peppers, squash, potatoes, garlic and apples share space with canned goods, cheese, milk, eggs, maple syrup, honey and ground beef, and the bakery turns out donuts, pastries, bread, pies, cakes, cheesecakes and muffins every morning, with custom orders available.

The farm is open spring through fall, and October is its big month. The market adds fresh-squeezed cider, hand-dipped caramel apples and cider slushies, along with pumpkins, gourds, mums, straw bales and corn stalks for decorating. Out back, the corn maze has separate junior and adult courses, there is a pumpkin patch to pick from, and the state tourism listing mentions a hayride. October hours run 7 to 6 Monday through Thursday and 7 to 9 on Friday and Saturday; the farm is closed Sundays.

Heidi's also hosts parties and group events, and runs school field trips that cover farm history and agriculture. Maze tickets can be bought online. The state listing notes wheelchair-accessible parking and a barrier-free entrance.

Stormy Lavender in Saranac is about 20 minutes east; it doesn't post visiting hours online, so confirm before planning a stop.
