About Flat River Grill
Flat River Grill is a neighborhood restaurant in downtown Lowell, set in the historic Bergin building, which dates to 1931. It is part of the Gilmore Collection, a West Michigan restaurant group, and it makes the most of its spot on the river: the four-season patio overlooks the Flat River and the Lowell Showboat moored on it.
The kitchen cooks over wood and keeps to classic American dishes: line-caught fish, grass-fed beef, handmade pizzas and wood-grilled burgers. Besides the main dining room and the patio there is a third space, The Tributary. The restaurant posts a drinks list and specials on its website and hosts live music.
Hours are Monday through Thursday 11:30 to 9, Friday 11:30 to 10, Saturday 11 to 10 and Sunday 11 to 8, so it works for lunch on a weekday drive as well as dinner. Reservations can be made online or by phone, and takeout can be ordered online.
Stormy Lavender in Saranac is about 15 minutes east; it doesn't post visiting hours online, so confirm before planning a stop. Lowell itself makes a good lunch break between the orchards north of town, such as The Orchards at Red Barn, and the farms around Ionia.
