About Shady Hazel Farm
Shady Hazel Farm is a 16-acre family farm in the heart of Gibsons on the Sunshine Coast, run by Ian and Sara. Ian raises lamb, pork and beef, Sara has kept bees since 2017, and the farm grows seasonal vegetables and more than 40 varieties of specialty cut flowers. It is not certified organic, but it follows organic principles where it can, using organic seed and focusing on soil health.
Flowers run through spring, summer and fall, and in summer the farm opens for U-pick flowers. The highlight for visitors is the annual pumpkin patch, which opened Saturday, September 26 in 2026 and runs Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. through October. You can pick a pumpkin from the field, meet and pet the farm's heritage-breed Kune Kune piglets, and take a tractor-drawn hayride around the property, with warm spiced apple cider from the orchard next door.
Beyond the patch, the farm runs a Supper Club of seasonal dinners with visiting chefs, rents the property for events and offers a farm stay. The farm also sells its own meat and eggs.
Sunshine Coast Lavender in Sechelt is about 25 minutes up the coast by car, so a summer trip can pair lavender with flower picking here.
