About The Flower Belt

The Flower Belt is a pick-your-own flower farm run by a third-generation farming family on a hillside near Helmsley, with views over the town and toward the North York Moors National Park. The planting is designed to keep something in bloom through the season: 28 varieties of tulip, 21 kinds of wildflower and fields of sunflowers, followed by pumpkins in autumn. A second site near Harrogate opened in 2026.

There is no entry fee, so you pay only for what you cut or carry away. Prices on the farm's website include tulips at £1 a stem or £15 for 25, sunflowers at £2 each or £5 for seven, and wildflowers at £7 for a jam jar or £15 for a vase; pumpkins are priced per item. Scissors, including child-sized pairs, jars, vases and buckets are all provided, and your flowers are wrapped in paper at the Silo Shop where you start and finish.

The Helmsley field opens on Saturdays and Sundays, with flower picking from 10am to 5pm. The Honey Tap café serves homemade bakes, tea, coffee and cold drinks, and pizza and a bar run from noon to 4pm on open days. The farm asks visitors not to bring picnics. It suits families: paths are grass, most pushchairs and wheelchairs can manage the main areas, and there are toilets with baby changing.

Yorkshire Lavender at Terrington is about 25 minutes southeast by car through the Howardian Hills, so you can pick a bucket of flowers here in the morning and walk the lavender gardens in the afternoon.
