About Brass Castle Brewery

Brass Castle is a Malton brewery run by a group of friends who brew on site, and its taphouse on Yorkersgate, in the middle of town, is the place to find its beers at their freshest. Every beer is vegan-friendly and certified gluten-free, a point the brewery makes across its whole range. Recent releases include Comet & Citra, a dry-hopped pale ale, Pirate Democracy, a New England-style IPA brewed for the brewery's 15th year, and Very Bad Kitty, a strong vanilla porter. The taphouse was listed in the 2024 CAMRA Good Beer Guide.

The taphouse opens Tuesday and Wednesday from 4pm to 9pm, Thursday from 4pm to 10pm, Friday from 2pm to 10pm, Saturday from noon to 10pm and Sunday from 2pm to 9pm, and is closed on Mondays. Evenings run on a rotating calendar of free events at 7pm: a pub quiz every other Tuesday, open mic nights where performers get a free drink, and music quizzes, plus occasional tap takeovers.

Malton bills itself as Yorkshire's food capital, so the taphouse fits easily into an afternoon of browsing the town. Woldies lavender farm at Wintringham is about 15 minutes east and Yorkshire Lavender at Terrington about 20 minutes west, so you can visit either in summer and finish in town.
