About The Lavender Fields
The Lavender Fields is run by fourth-generation farmers at Hartley Park Farm, between Alton and Selborne, who introduced English lavender to the farm in 1999. The field sits beside the ancient trees of Selborne Hanger, and the farm's body care, home fragrance and gift ranges are made from the lavender grown here.
The fields open to visitors only while the lavender is in flower. Bloom usually starts around mid-June with the earlier varieties and runs to mid-August; in 2026 the fields closed in mid-August when harvest began. Tickets in 2026 were £6 for adults and £2.50 for children aged 2 to 12, which included a bug hunting kit, with under-2s free. You can book online or buy at the shop on arrival if there is space.
The Lavender Barn shop and its small coffee shop, serving teas, coffees, cold drinks and cakes, are open from February to Christmas, Tuesday to Saturday, 10am to 4pm. A grassy picnic area is set aside in the main field, though there are no benches. Dogs on a lead are welcome in the shop and fields. Picking lavender or wildflowers is not allowed, drones are banned, and commercial photography must be booked ahead.
The Selborne Arms is about five minutes away in Selborne village for lunch after a walk in the fields.
