About Carshalton Lavender
Carshalton Lavender is a not-for-profit community project, run entirely by volunteers, that keeps alive the area's history of commercial lavender growing. Its 3-acre field, planted more than 27 years ago, sits hidden inside the Stanley Road allotments in Carshalton Beeches and cannot be seen from the main road. The group distills its own lavender oil, which it sells through its website.
The public can visit on one pick-your-own harvest weekend each July. In 2026 it ran on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 July, 10am to 5pm with last entry at 4:30pm. Adult entry was £2, or £5 with a bunch you cut yourself, and up to two children under 16 per adult went free. Bring scissors or secateurs; the volunteers have only a few to lend. The event goes ahead in any weather.
Stalls on harvest weekend sell coffee, ice cream, cakes, bhajis and pakoras, with lavender bread on the Saturday, and family activities are free for children. Some stallholders take cash only. Toilets are inside the Oaks Way Centre, beside the single entrance gate. Outside the harvest, volunteers meet on Saturday mornings from 10:30am to 12:30pm, and anyone can ask to join a session.
