About Priory Farm Estate
Priory Farm is a 150-acre estate of pasture, ancient woodland and lakes at Nutfield, near Redhill, run by the Shinner family since 1957. Most people come for one of three things: the farm shop, the cafés, or Discovery Land, the estate's 40-acre family trail.
Discovery Land is a waymarked route through woodland, meadows and around the lakes, dotted with play stops such as Timber's Treehouse, a lakeside playhouse, Loggoland, a castle, a fairy forest and a giant's chair. Children can feed the carp, guinea fowl wander about, and the farm suggests allowing two to three hours. It opens 9am to 5pm with last entry at 3pm, on weekends and Tuesday to Friday in term time and daily in school holidays. October is its busiest month: in 2026 the Halloween Trail runs Tuesday to Sunday from 3 to 16 October and daily from 17 October to 1 November, the pumpkin field opens daily from 17 to 31 October, and a tractor ride through the farm, with a splash through a lake puddle, runs October weekends and daily from 17 to 31 October. Discovery Land then closes from 2 to 21 November before a Winter Trail from 21 November to 4 January.
The farm shop has a butchery, cheeses, deli goods and bread from a bakery that started on the estate in 2009, with a gift barn across the car park. The Shepherd's Hut Café near the shop serves hot drinks and meals from 8:30am Monday to Saturday, the Garden Room Café does breakfasts and light lunches, and Discovery Land has its own café for ticket holders.
Mayfield Lavender at Banstead is about 7 miles west, roughly 25 minutes by car, so a summer visit can combine the lavender fields with lunch and a woodland walk here.
