About Grandma Lambe's
Grandma Lambe's began in the early 1940s, when Mabel Lambe sold apples from her garage on Highway 26 outside Meaford. Her daughter-in-law Grace added home-baked apple pies, and in 1982 the Grandma Lambe title passed to her. Grace's husband Gordon built a standalone fruit stand on the present site in 1984, the store went year-round in 1992, and it has grown several times since. The family orchard started at 10 acres and reached 75 acres by the end of the 1940s, and younger family members now help run the farm and store.
The Meaford store is open seven days a week, 362 days a year, with baked goods, groceries and giftware. Apples from the orchard come into season from mid-to-late August through the end of October, moving from tart early varieties to very sweet late ones. In spring the orchard blossoms around the Victoria Day long weekend.
Also on Highway 26, the Lambe Family Barn, a two-story barn from the 1920s, is rented for weddings, family reunions and large art and yoga classes. The family has also taken part in the Meaford Harvest Craft Show since it began in 1983. A second seasonal store operates on Highway 6 in Chatsworth.
The Purple Hollow lavender farm is only a few minutes away in Meaford, but it is taking 2026 off and plans to return in 2027, so check its website before planning a summer pairing.
