About The Purple Hollow

The Purple Hollow is a small lavender farm in Meaford, on the south shore of Georgian Bay, where lavender and botanical products are made by hand. Each summer the farm distills its lavender in a traditional copper alembic still during late July and early August, when the fields are in heavy bloom. One of its oils comes from the Phenomenal variety, which the farm describes as rich in camphor.

The farm is closed for the 2026 season for personal reasons, and the owners plan to reopen in summer 2027. For reference, in 2025 it opened on July 4 and kept hours on Fridays from 1 to 4 p.m. and on weekends from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., with entry by donation. A visit usually takes 30 minutes to an hour and a half, including time in the farm store.

The Meaford Lavender Festival, the farm's lavender picnic for two, and its classes and workshops are all planned to return in 2027, and evening access to the fields can be booked. In 2025 the farm sold cold drinks and ice cream, and visitors could bring a picnic to the tables as long as they took their garbage home. The farm store sells soaps, including a winter shea and cocoa butter line, linen mists and lavender essential oil, and the online shop runs year-round.

Grandma Lambe's, near Meaford, is about 10 minutes away for a second farm stop on a Georgian Bay drive.
