About Irons Fruit Farm
Irons Fruit Farm is on Stubbs Mills Road outside Lebanon, about halfway between Dayton and Cincinnati. Elbert and Mary Irons bought the 145-acre farm in 1913, their son Leon planted 25 acres of apples in 1930, and the family has sold apples here since 1939. Today Bill and Beth Irons run it as the fifth generation, growing apples alongside strawberries, peaches, raspberries, cherries, blueberries and melons.
Fall weekends are the busiest time. U-pick apples, more than a dozen varieties, are usually open on weekends from September through November, and the family posts each week's picking on their social pages, usually by Wednesday. Free wagon rides carry visitors out to the 12-acre corn maze and the pumpkin patch, where pumpkins are 59 cents a pound. In 2025 the maze was $8 for ages 5 to 12 and $10 for 13 and up, with 4 and under free. October weekends often add live music, food trucks and local vendors.
The bakery, added in the 1980s, sells pies, donuts from early summer until Christmas, apple fritters from late September through October, and fresh-pressed cider from late September to Christmas, plus jams, jellies, apple butter and gift packs. Weekday group tours for 15 or more people ages 5 and up include a wagon ride and end with a donut and cider, and the farm has a wheelchair-accessible wagon.
Sunshine Acres Lavender Farm near Morrow is only about 10 minutes south, making it the closest lavender pairing; check its website for open days, since its U-pick field is closed for now.
