About Newport Vineyards
Newport Vineyards is a family winery on Aquidneck Island, owned and run for nearly 30 years by brothers John and Paul Nunes on more than 100 acres of preserved farmland along East Main Road in Middletown. It makes more than 30 wines from estate-grown and other grapes, and an on-site brewery adds beer to the list.
Tastings are walk-in any time the bar is open. A wine flight is four two-ounce pours, a beer flight four five-ounce pours, or you can take a glass or pint out onto the grounds. Winery tours run year-round at 11 AM, 1 PM and 3 PM and include a tasting; reservations are suggested and open two months ahead. Groups of 15 or more can book a private tour and tasting.
The dining room serves weekend brunch, lunch and dinner, with a charcuterie and cheese menu between lunch and dinner, and Tuesdays bring half-price bottles. The October 2026 calendar includes Sunday music on October 18 and a Harvest Festival on October 25, rain or shine, and the marketplace sells wine and beer to go. All ages are welcome, with non-alcoholic drinks available, but children cannot be left unattended. Pets other than service dogs are not allowed, and outside food, drinks and coolers stay in the car.
Lavender Waves Farm in Wakefield is about 30 minutes west over the Newport and Jamestown bridges. It holds ticketed cut-your-own lavender days and has farm animals to meet, so book its date first and finish with dinner here.
