About Stonington Vineyards

Stonington Vineyards was one of the first wineries on the Connecticut Wine Trail, set on Taugwonk Road in the farm country north of Stonington village, roughly midway between New York and Boston. The tasting room is open every day of the year except a few major holidays, and the lawn and gazebo give you room to spread out in good weather.

A standard tasting is $16 and comes with a keepsake glass, with limited releases available for a little extra. You can also choose a flight of three 3-ounce pours, white, red or your own mix, for $20 to $22. From November through April, free winery tours run on Friday and Sunday afternoons (the site lists both noon and 1 pm, so confirm the time), and private weekday tours can be arranged by phone or email. In summer, Saturday hours stretch to 7 pm, and a Friday night concert series runs from 6 to 9 pm in July and August.

Bring a picnic, since food is welcome, but outside alcohol, water and other drinks are not; water and soft drinks are sold inside. Leashed pets may join you outside but not in the buildings. Groups of seven or more need a reservation, and the gazebo, which holds up to 10, can be booked for two hours. Fall 2026 events include an adults-only movie night, a family-friendly Halloween afternoon with a children's author and a candle-making class.

Lavender Pond Farm in Killingworth, the nearest lavender farm in our directory, is about 45 minutes west on I-95, so the two fit a shoreline day with a stop in between.
