About Maple Lane Farms
Maple Lane Farms is a 225-acre family farm in Preston, in eastern Connecticut, operating since 1978. Fifty of those acres are planted in Christmas trees, and a 5,000-square-foot greenhouse grows hydroponic Bibb lettuce all year, more than 250,000 heads annually, without pesticides or fungicides.
Most visitors come in late November and December to cut their own tree. The fields hold Balsam, Fraser, Canaan and Concolor firs, and in 2026 every cut-your-own tree is $85 including tax, no matter the height. Handsaws are provided, and staff carry your tree from the field, shake and bale it, and hand you twine for the car roof. Wreaths, kissing balls, garland and tree stands are sold too.
Cutting starts the day after Thanksgiving, November 27, 2026. Weekends run 9 am to 4:30 pm, and from November 30 weekdays open at noon. Thanksgiving weekend requires a reservation with a $15 non-refundable deposit; after that it is first come, first served. The farm's barn can also be rented for weddings, anniversaries and showers.
Lavender Pond Farm in Killingworth is about 50 minutes west, so the two fit different seasons better than a single day: lavender in summer, a tree from Maple Lane in December.
