About Nightingale Wines
Paul and Gail Nightingale founded this Broke winery in 1994, planting vines on what had been empty land. The next generation, Katherine and Kristjan, runs it now. The vineyard faces Yellow Rock, a sandstone outcrop that sits above the vines and the lawns.
The cellar door is open every day from 9am to 3pm. A tasting is $10 per person and covers a range of the current wines. Bottles can be bought on the spot or sent anywhere in Australia, and the wine club offers a member discount and early access to new releases and events.
Cheese, antipasto and Nightingale signature platters are served every day, so it's an easy place for a light lunch with a view of Yellow Rock. Groups of ten or more can book a set-menu lunch or dinner by calling the events manager. The property also has villas among the vines for overnight stays and hosts weddings and events on the grounds.
Hunter Lavender Farm is also in Broke, around 15 minutes away, and opens for about four weeks over December. An early start in the lavender fields still leaves time for a tasting before Nightingale closes at 3pm.
