About Winmark Wines
Winmark focuses on Chardonnay from vineyards first planted in the 1970s, making single-vineyard Chardonnays and a Blanc de Blancs sparkling. Owner Karin Adcock runs the Broke property as a passion project and also curates its art gallery. It has been named Hunter Valley Cellar Door of the Year.
The cellar door is open every day. The standard tasting is five Hunter Valley Chardonnays served with sparkling water, apricots, almonds and estate olives, in an air-conditioned room with floor-to-ceiling glass or outside. After tasting, walk the sculpture park: more than 50 works along a set route, a garden designed by Paul Bangay and a grove of deciduous trees. Wear walking shoes and a sun hat.
The gallery and boutique show oil paintings, ceramics, glass and giclée prints, and the exhibitions change regularly. Pre-booked hampers with cheese, salami and baguette suit a picnic, and wine is sold by the glass. Winmark also runs wine lunches, high teas, sundowners and art workshops through the year, and has three guest houses and a tiny house for couples on the property.
Hunter Lavender Farm is also in Broke, about 10 minutes away, and opens for about four weeks each December. The two make an easy summer pairing: lavender in the morning, a tasting and sculpture walk after.
