About Patoka Lake Winery

Patoka Lake Winery opened in June 2016 just outside the main entrance to Patoka Lake, the big reservoir in the hills of southern Indiana. The list covers dry, semi-dry, semi-sweet and sweet wines: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay, Riesling, Gewurztraminer and Catawba among the grape wines, and peach, cherry, blackberry and strawberry among the fruit wines. Wine slushies are part of the draw, offered in the tasting lineup and sold to go.

The tasting room is open daily, with longer evening hours from Memorial Day to Labor Day when lake traffic is heaviest. A tasting is eight samples, wines and slushies included, and comes with a winery glass to keep. You can sit at indoor tables or on the covered patio and order meats, cheeses or chocolates to go with a glass or bottle. Tours are by appointment, and large groups arrange tastings ahead by email.

Linked to the winery are a sister distillery, Old Homestead Distilling Co., with its own tasting room, spirit slushies and tours, plus Patoka Lake Brewing and the Old Homestead Hotel. Above the tasting room are the Winery Suites, and the Silo Suites are built into converted silos attached to the building, so a lake weekend can start and end here. The event space hosts private parties, and the 2026 calendar included a holiday market and themed dinners.

White River Lavender Farm near Jasper is about 16 miles west as the crow flies, roughly a half-hour drive on county roads. Confirm the farm's open days before planning, then pair a summer morning there with an afternoon tasting and a walk at the lake.
