About Café Piña
Café Piña is a small chef-owned café at River Centre Landing, the riverside development along the Patoka River in Jasper. Chef Claudia Juarez trained at Le Cordon Bleu in Pasadena and worked large-event catering in California before moving home to Dubois County, where her parents live. She named the café for the pineapple, a long-standing sign of welcome, and opened it in 2022 with a seasonal menu she writes herself and adjusts with ingredients from local markets.
Breakfast is served whenever the doors are open. The current menu runs from omelettes, biscuits and gravy and pancakes to brunch plates like hot chicken and waffles, crunchy French toast and avocado toast with egg. Lunch brings sandwiches, salads, a soup-and-sandwich combo and bowls of ramen. A full coffee bar pours lattes, matcha, chai and dirty chai, and the chef set out to include dairy-free and gluten-free choices.
The building looks out toward the river and the old mill grounds behind River Centre Landing, and there is outdoor seating in warm weather. Hours are short, so plan for a morning or early lunch stop: most days it closes at 2 pm, Monday and Tuesday at 1 pm, and it is closed Wednesdays.
White River Lavender Farm lies about 8 miles north of downtown Jasper, so Café Piña works as a breakfast stop before a summer drive up to the lavender fields. Check with the lavender farm on its open days before you go.
