About Scottish Lavender Oils

Scottish Lavender Oils is run by Rory and Marina Irwin at Tarhill Farm, just off the M90 beside the Burleigh Sands car park on Loch Leven. They planted their first lavender in 2015, distilled their first oil and opened the gates in 2017, and released their first perfumes in 2023. Seven lavender and lavandin varieties grow on the hillside.

The farm opens only while the lavender is in bloom. The 2027 season is planned for late June to 12 August, Monday to Friday 11am to 5pm and weekends 10am to 5pm, with dates and tickets posted ahead of the season. A ticket gives you the whole day in the fields, and guided tours of about 40 minutes start on the hour, covering how lavender grows in Scotland, the varieties and the still. The still runs during harvest in the last days of the season.

There is no café, but you are welcome to bring a picnic to the benches looking over Loch Leven; Kinross cafés are about 10 minutes away. The small farm shop sells lavender and lavandin oils, handmade soap, room spray and seasonal bunches, plus the farm's own perfumes. Private evening picnics in the field for up to 10 guests start at £150. Pets are not allowed, though trained assistance dogs are.

Loch Leven's Larder is about 10 minutes away by car for lunch or supplies.
