About Sunny Hill Farm
Sunny Hill Farm sits on Oak Road on the Suamico side of Green Bay, on land that was the DuChateau family dairy farm until 1978. The next year Roland Bruntz, a parochial school teacher, began growing berries and vegetables to feed his family of six and bring in extra income. His son Kerry and grandson Logan run the farm now, with a small crew, seasonal pickers and plenty of family help.
Strawberries are what most people know the farm for. The season is short, only a few weeks, usually starting in June; the family pulls the winter straw off the plants around the first of May and the farm posts on their social pages when picking is about to open. You can pick your own berries in the field or buy them already picked.
As summer goes on, the farm switches to vegetables: green beans, cucumbers, carrots, peppers, potatoes, tomatoes and sweet corn. Besides the stand on Oak Road, Sunny Hill sells from roadside stands around Green Bay, and select produce and jam can be pre-ordered on their website. The farm has historically been closed on Saturdays.
Pristine Lavender in Pulaski is about 25 minutes west, so a morning in the strawberry field can lead into an afternoon at the lavender farm. The NEW Zoo is also about 10 minutes north.
