About Inn at Cedar Crossing

The Inn at Cedar Crossing fills an 1884 building at what was once the corner of Cedar and Cottage streets, now Third and Louisiana, in downtown Sturgeon Bay. Over the years it held a tailor, an apothecary with a soda fountain, doctors' offices and a clothing store; the lobby still has its original pressed-tin ceilings. The restaurant and bar have been serving the town since 1989, and the inn stays open year-round.

Upstairs are nine individually decorated guest rooms in a rustic-modern style, each for up to two adults. Overnight guests get a continental breakfast in the second-floor breakfast room. The inn takes no children or pets, and since every room is upstairs with no elevator, it is not wheelchair accessible.

Downstairs, the restaurant and bar cook with as many local ingredients as they can, drawing on the Door County peninsula, and pour wine, craft beer and cocktails. Lunch and dinner menus are posted on their website. The kitchen also bakes from scratch and takes bakery orders by phone, usually with 48 hours' notice. Table reservations are by phone only.

Island Lavender, near Baileys Harbor, is about 35 minutes north up the peninsula, so the inn works as a base for a lavender outing followed by dinner downtown.
