About Simon Creek Vineyard & Winery
Simon Creek Vineyard & Winery sits among its vineyards on Bochek Road in the middle of the Door Peninsula, with a Sturgeon Bay mailing address. It was founded by the late Col. (Ret.) Tim Lawrie, and its winemakers work under the guidance of consultant Tom Payette. The wines have earned more than 200 medals in international competitions, led by the double-gold Untouchable Red, and the list covers both grape wines and fruit wines such as Door County Cherry. In late fall the winery takes preorders for a holiday port.
A new taproom lets you pour your own by the ounce or the glass, and staff also lead wine tastings and pour bourbon flights. Cocktails and select drinks are featured daily. The winery is open every day from 10 to 5, with last call for tastings and glasses 30 minutes before closing.
The outdoor deck looks out over a natural setting where you may spot wildlife, and it is the stage for free live music on Saturday afternoons during the season; in 2026 the lineup ran from June 13 to October 17, mostly from 1:30 to 4:30. Inside there are table games, and cornhole is set up outside. For food, build your own charcuterie board from the snacks on hand; carry-in food and drinks are not allowed. The space can also be booked for private events.
Island Lavender is about 11 miles north toward Ephraim, roughly 25 minutes away. Spend a July morning in the lavender, then come south for an afternoon of music on the deck.
